Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am happy to report that I received the DFL Endorsement at the 6th Ward convention Saturday, March 28th 2009 at Whittier Park. It was great to see all of the delegates, elected officials and other supporters come out on a beautiful spring day. Thank you for all your support! I look forward to working with you over coming months toward Election Day on November 3.

The last three years have been exciting and challenging, representing you and the entire 6th Ward on the Minneapolis City Council. Four years ago I ran on a platform of strong neighborhoods, safe communities and ensuring that residents of the 6th Ward get our share of public dollars. We have made considerable progress in these areas. Working together we have made our streets safer and our neighborhood organizations stronger. Increased public and private investment reflects our communities' interests. I am thrilled to have been able to deliver on what I said I would do when campaigning.

As City Council Vice President and by serving on key Council Committees I have effectively represented the interests of our varied and diverse residents and businesses. We have kept core city concerns at the forefront of Minneapolis city government.

This is a time to be hopeful and a time to take action. It is a time for us to come together to face our local and global challenges. With our new progressive President and progressive leadership at the federal and state levels I am well situated to help the 6th Ward take full advantage of the opportunities ahead.

We are at a crossroads in the history of our country and our community. We must take bold steps to make our society more fair and equitable for everyone.

I look forward to meeting you and learning about what matters to you as the campaign progresses to November 3. Working together we will be part of the change happening in our country, our city and our ward.

Peace,

Robert Lilligren
